We use Read, Write Inc phonics across the whole school. Reading scheme: for most children, we prefer ‘real’ books. ‘Real’ books provide a greater interest, vocabulary, imagination, varied sentence and story structure for children. In addition, we use Oxford Reading Tree for carefully selected children requiring a more structured approach in a 1:1 context. Class teachers send out a weekly or fortnightly update for parents informing them about what is being taught in class along with suggestions of what parents/carers can do to support leaning at home in addition to any homework.
