Lunch time at The Minster

The food children eat in school is very important for their education. Not only does a well-balanced diet help with general health but establishing healthy eating habits at a young age can give them knowledge for the future. We understand primary school children and their likes and dislikes so we tailor our menus to encourage maximum uptake.

The meals are freshly prepared and cooked on site and meet the School Food Standards, providing a hot balanced meal every day. The meal includes a choice of two main meals (one of which is suitable for a vegetarian) or a jacket potato with filling, a choice of two vegetables, a salad bar, freshly baked bread, a pudding of the day or a choice of fresh fruit, yogurt or cheese and biscuits, and drinking water.

It is possible to ‘mix and match’ if you would like your child to have hot dinners on only some days, and packed lunch the rest. The menu is changed three times a year to reflect seasonal availability. School Lunches are free for Reception, Year One and Two children. If your child attends our Nursery Daycare sessions, a packed lunch must be provided for every session.
