This year has been an outstanding one for creativity at Minster Junior School, with pupils not only developing their artistic talents but also gaining national recognition for their powerful work.
A major highlight was winning three national awards from Show Racism the Red Card—one of the UK’s leading anti-racism education charities.
Minster pupils were number one out of over 30,000 entries in the three categories they entered, proudly receiving awards for:
- Best Piece of Art,
- Best Song (Primary School category), and
- The prestigious MBE Graham Taylor Memorial Award, recognising overall excellence and impact.
An outstanding report from Ofsted in the arts for the Minsters Personal development and extra curricular provision tied with a glowing commendation for the year six piece of Artwork ‘Belonging’ from Bishop Rosemarie really topped off a great year here at The Minster Junior School.
These accolades reflect the school’s deep commitment to using the arts as a tool for expression, inclusion, and social change. Students explored themes of identity, equality, sustainability and community through both visual and musical arts, producing work that was not only creative but also bold, honest, and inspiring. These artworks sparked conversations across generations and cultures, helping to build a stronger, more connected school community.
