Dear Parents and Carers,
In order to celebrate our cultural diversity at The Minster Nursery and Infant School, we will be hosting a ‘Many Cultures, One Family’ week next week, beginning on Monday 4 November. We will be learning about the cultural heritages within our classes and the wider school.
We would be thrilled to invite as many parents/carers as possible in to the classroom to share your cultural heritage with the children during a short 10 – 20 minute carpet session. You could share some traditional food, dance, clothing, money, art and stories, or teach the children to say some words in your language (e.g. counting to 10, days of the week, hello & goodbye) and sharing some simple facts about your country’s flag, geography and history.
Traditional Clothing Day
On Friday 8 November children are invited to come into school wearing traditional clothing from their country or clothes that match the colour of the flag. This idea has come from discussions with the children as something they would like to do to show that they are proud of their heritage.
As children will be outside during playtime and lunchtime, please make sure that clothing is suitable no matter what the weather.
Many Thanks,
Key Stage 1 team
Please Note: If your child is in Reception, please refer to that letter for arrangements in MCOF Reception. The Traditional Clothing Day in Nursery will be on Thursday, not Friday.
