In Year 2 the children have been reading ‘There’s a Rang Tan in my Bedroom’.
There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom begins with a little girl startled by a cheeky orangutan tossing her treats and shrieking at her toiletries. When she asks why, the visitor reveals a home razed for palm oil plantations, prompting the girl to take action to protect the rainforest.
They have been learning about the environmental impact of palm oil found in some of our everyday household items such as shampoo and chocolate’. If orang utans no longer have a place to call home, they may just find a new one in your bedroom!
